Comcast officially announced that NBCUniversal’s Steve Burke will retire next August and that his replacement, Jeff Shell, will take over the CEO post at the beginning of this coming January, while Burke becomes the company’s chairman for eight months. Burke, who said he has no plans to join another media company, will oversee the April launch of the Peacock streaming service and August’s Summer Olympics coverage.
