App Annie: 2021 was a hot year for app downloads, ads



Consumers downloaded apps a record-breaking 230 billion times in 2021 and Americans spent an average 4.1 hours daily on mobile devices compared to 3.1 hours on TV, according to App Annie’s State of Mobile 2022 report. Other notable report highlights include that seven of every 10 minutes were spent on social, photo, and/or video apps, Facebook dominated total time spent among apps and ad spending grew 23% year over year to top $295 billion.
