Welcome to Ad Age Remotely, a streamed video segment focusing on the issues of the day.

Advertising has been working toward becoming a more inclusive industry for years, from adding diversity and sustainability award requirements to integrating diverse talent throughout every step of the ad creation process. But progress has been slow.

In today’s edition of Remotely, Madonna Badger, founder and chief creative officer of Badger Agency, joins Ad Age Senior Reporter Aleda Stam to discuss Badger’s work improving how women are represented, served and hired in advertising.

This push for women’s equality has been an integral part of Badger’s impressive 30-year career in advertising. She launched the viral #WomenNotObjects campaign in 2016, which changed how the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity evaluated work regarding gender bias. The team at Badger (then Badger & Winters) launched the 2018 “Face Anything” campaign for Olay, which aimed to present the brand to a new generation of millennial women. (Badger Agency rebranded from Badger & Winters in February 2022 when Jim Winters retired.)
